The Housing Authority is fully staffed and rendering service while its buildings are closed.

If you have an appointment at one of our offices, we ask you to wear a mask.  If you do not have a mask, we will provide one for you.  Social distancing is also required, so if the office is too small your appointment will be conducted in a conference room or the community room.  Lastly, we ask you, as head of household, not to bring family or friends to an appointment.

We all want to practice sensible safety so help us all be safe.

If you have a maintenance problem, please call Work Order at 843-577-2204.

As we move forward, there will be more protocol changes, so please be patient and remember our highest concern is the safety of our staff as well as your safety.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

A message from our President/Chief Executive Officer:

The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston was born of action on December 18, 1934 by a vote of the Charleston City Council. However, the actual permission for such a "creation" came via statute in the South Carolina General Assembly in March of 1934.

We have come a long way in our society, our City and our personal relationships. Nevertheless, the need for Public housing still exists today. We have so much more to do before we can truly say, the job is done.
