The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) is proud to celebrate the opening of 573 Meeting Street, a transformative $44 million development envisioned in 2017 through a partnership with One80 Place, The Michaels Organization and Spandrel Development.

CHA provided the 70 project-based vouchers for 573 Meeting Street, allowing the new residents to pay no more than 30% of their adjusted gross income toward rent.

This six-story mixed-use building includes:

  • 50 studio apartments
  • 16 one-bedroom apartments
  • Four two-bedroom apartments for low to zero-income residents
  • A new Family Center featuring 18 suites with 56 emergency shelter beds.

The Family Center will double One80 Place’s capacity to serve women and families experiencing homelessness. Apartment residents will have access to on-site supportive services, including case management, healthcare, legal services, employment support and other resources designed to help them achieve long-term stability.

As the first residents turn the keys to their new apartments, CHA remains deeply committed to expanding affordable housing solutions across our city. We want to welcome the first residents of 573 Meeting Street home and extend our thanks to One80 Place, The Michaels Organization, Spandrel Development and many other public and private partners for turning this vision into reality.
