Pete Sherman is a seasoned professional with a strong background in business, finance, and real estate development. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989, followed by an MBA from George Washington University.

His career began in commercial real estate development and management in Washington, D.C., before transitioning to lead his family’s specialty chemical business from 1995 to 2004. During this time, he also obtained his general contractor’s license.

In 2005, Pete joined the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston, where he steadily advanced in leadership roles. He earned his CPA license in 2008, was promoted to Finance Director and CFO in 2010, and in 2021, took on the role of Director of Development, overseeing key initiatives to enhance housing opportunities in the community.
